Pereira is the capital of the Risaralda department and the largest city in the Coffee Region. Its airport and road connections make it the main gateway to the area. The city itself is lively and commercial, and it works as a base for hot springs, nature reserves and day trips. For the full regional picture, see the Coffee Region guide.
